The dust has settled since our first Growing Green Communities conference in Odessa and we’d like to thank the speakers, exhibitors and participants for a successful event.
Texas State Technical College Energy Trailer
The MCM Grande Hotel in Odessa provided an excellent venue and our conference room was full for almost two days of speakers and panels. In addition to our exhibit area under the dome, Texas State Technical College parked their energy trailer next to the convention area and provided excellent examples of renewable energy in action.

We were pleased to welcome members of the Growing Green Communities Advisory Council the day before the conference. At the meeting they received a briefing from the conference team regarding progress on the initiative.
Keynote Speaker Steve Hewitt
Master of Ceremonies Caleb Holt, with TEEX Knowledge Engineering began the program on time, and despite some re-arranging because of missed flights, all of our speakers were able to make presentations.
The reception on the first evening provided not only an opportunity for making new contacts, but also renewing old friendships and we ended on schedule at noon on day 2.

I think the Growing Green Communities team was taken by to two thoughts. First, it was great to see something created on paper (and cybespace) come to fruition. We put a lot of thought and effort into planning the event and felt rewarded by its success.

Finally, the conference provided the opportunity to validate our plan and learn from the experience. In the coming weeks Growing Green Communities will reorganize and expand our website so it becomes the depository of the information gathered in the conference series. Not only will you be able to find past presentations, but also links, talking points and highlights from future conferences.
